Whole Foods & High Fructose Corn Syrup

I was shocked to find Lea & Perrins Worcester Sauce at Whole Foods store the other day! Did you know that Lea & Perrins contains high fructose corn syrup!? Yuck! What’s THAT doing at Whole Foods!?

It’s really such a shame. I suppose one could argue that you are using such a small amount, that it really doesn’t matter, but somehow I just can’t get over it!

I looked at the ingredients of Annie’s Natural Worcester Sauce, and I wasn’t 100% convinced that it was going to taste the same. Not that I am a Worcester Sauce aficionado, but it’s missing the anchovies. LOL!

ETA: I guess I am late to the party. People have been complaining about Whole Foods selling products with High Fructose Corn Syrup for awhile.

Now I really don’t think HFCS is that much worse than any other processed sugar product (processed is processed!), but it’s the principle of it I guess. The real problem with High Fructose Corn Syrup is they sneak it into products that you don’t expect!

Really! Who knows, maybe all the hoopla on how horrible it is, is true, so I won’t take a chance. HFCS is cheap sugar, and it doesn’t belong at my clean foods table!

Corn on the Cob

I think corn gets a bad rap. Yeah, it’s probably ruining our farming system with all the genetically engineered crops. Not to mention, high fructose corn syrup is ruining our healthy bodies.

But there is nothing like corn on the cob fresh from the local farm garden! I decided to treat myself tonight and pick up a half dozen of sweet corn on the cob from the local farm stand. I haven’t had fresh corn once this year, and I figured it was about time. Yeah, it’s high in calories and carbs (sugar) but in moderation, it can’t hurt, right? Everything in moderation!
