Wonderful Breakfast Sandwich

I made the best breakfast sandwich this morning.

(Ate it right after my 4 lbs weigh in!)

1/8 cup Sargento – Reduced Fat Colby-Jack Shredded Cheese
1 tbsp Hormel – Real Crumbled Bacon
1 whole egg (Natures Promise – Fresh Brown Eggs – Extra Large)
1 egg white
1 roll of Arnolds – Select Seedless Rye Sandwich Thins (these rolls are great! only 100 calories)

Stonyfield Farms Frozen Yogurt

I love Stonyfield Farms Frozen Yogurt. We bought a pint a few weeks ago, and I thought it was delicious. I wish I could remember which flavor it was. It think it was the Cookies & Dream flavor.

Since I am now trying to eat healthier, it’s even better because it tastes great and the ingredients are healthier (and more natural) than some of the other low calorie ice cream offerings.

I bought a pint of Creme Caramel for myself and had a serving tonight with some fruit. It was delicious, loaded with caramel swirls. I didn’t miss the extra fat and calories at all!

Here is the nutritional data on the Creme Caramel flavor:

Bike!

Yay, first bike ride of the season! Here it is, the last week of July, and tonight was MY first bicycle ride. Even though we’ve been camping twice, the rain put a damper on a lot of biking this season.

So, we went for a nice long bikeride – I think about 40 minutes. It felt great!

I had a lot of extra calories, and I made myself a wonderful banana, raspberry, blueberry, Stoneyfield frozen yogurt bowl. It was delicious!

Today’s Challenges!

whoo hoo. My boss brought in his usual box of muffins, and I resisted all day. phew, it was hard, but I did it! I wanted just a bite, but I told myself no, just leave it.

(I did have to post a “rescue me” message on my Facebook profile, but I pulled it off!)

I was starving driving home from work, and I was *this* close to pulling into Burger King and getting a small something! I whipped out my iPhone and restaurant app, & after checking the calories on a bunch of different menu items, I resisted! IT’S NOT WORTH THE CALORIES!

muffins

UPDATE: Muffin boxes are still being brought in. A few times, I could smell the glorious muffins without even opening the box. But I held out. I haven’t had a muffin yet, and I feel great! Yay :)

Difficult Day Yesterday

I had a difficult day yesterday, trying to keep the hunger at bay. I don’t know why, but I couldn’t stop feeling hungry, even after an afternoon snack.

I didn’t have this problem during the week, and after looking at the breakfast choices in my Food Diary (keeping a food diary at MyFitnessPal.com) I am wondering if it was due to having a whole grain (oatmeal) for my breakfast meal.

Every other morning, I had yogurt or protein. Today I had a 1/2 serving of the leftover chili from last night and a yogurt smoothie, then for lunch, a nice ham pita sandwich. It’s 2pm, and I feel good. My stomach still feels full, even though psychologically I could probably still eat right now!

Anyway, my point is maybe it was the grains. I will have to keep that in mind!

Watching Ellie Krieger on Hulu

While working on the laptop in my home office today, I am watching Ellie Krieger’s Food Network show “Healthy Appetite” on hulu desktop (hulu.com) Her show is healthy and I have learned a lot! I can’t wait to experiment with some of her recipes and advice!

It’s great to watch hulu while working, I have a little TV screen on the top of my workspace.

Sensa Sprinkle Diet

While searching for a few good web sites, I found this article from Calorie Count @about.com:

Fad or Real Deal? The Sensa Sprinkle Diet

All for $60 a month?

Sensa contains natural and artificial flavors in a base of maltodextrin (derived from corn), tricalcium phosphate, silica, FD&C Yellow 5, carmine, and milk and soy derivatives.

If it’s so good, then why do they have to use artificial flavors and colors? Yuck! Wow! I am all for trying new things, and this might very well work for some, but if it compromises your health with chemicals and other un-natural additives then I got to say NO!

The exact combination of the Sensa blends are proprietary and patent-pending. However, no flavors are derived from meat sources and there is no mushroom, nutmeg, cinnamon, fish or garlic. Some flavors may contain milk and soy derived ingredients

Blah blah blah. How can they get away with this? Doesn’t the FDA mandate that all ingredients should be labeled, etc. Hmmph.

As a food product, FDA approval is not required for Sensa. All of Sensa’s ingredients are on the FDA designation list of GRAS — Generally Recognized as Safe.

Yeah, and we all know how “safe” the FDA GRAS list is.

Nope, not for me! I would rather be fat!

Healthy Choices

A good friend posted something on her Facebook page this week, and it hit home.

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it’s me. Life is AWESOME. CHANGE for the Better!

I have been wanting to start to eat and live healthier for so long. I start, then immediately fail! I want this time to be different. I am almost 47 years old, and although I am medically healthy, I know I am not at a good weight! Things have got to change for the better!

Thanks Mae for helping me see the light again!
