154.6 – yay yay yay

Lost one more pound. Crazy! 154.6 – weighed on Wii Fit too, and it said 155

So that is about 45 pounds total! Crazy! I gotta start toning more, getting back to doing yoga more often! I try doing it for a couple of minutes in the morning, but now that my yoga mat is here from Amazon, I should be doing longer sessions!

Body Changes

It’s always surreal and amazing when I look at my body and notice how much I have changed after weight loss.

I love my ankles! It probably sounds strange to some, to hear someone say they love their ankles, but I used to hate them, because of the fat that settled down there. With fat ankles, there’s no doubt anymore, you are officially fat all over!

Oh and my collarbone! Yeah, I love my collarbone too. Feeling my thinner collarbone gives me a rush of joy and pride!

My butt, thighs, calves, knees, feet, toes, neck, chest, face, arms, wrists, fingers, and stomach are all body parts I notice now. I never used to enjoy looking at my body shape. Now when I look in the mirror, it’s encouraging to view lean muscle definition on my upper and lower body. Healthy eating and exercise has reformed my shape and it’s exciting to know that I’ve just begun and there’s so much more to accomplish!

I used to wear over-sized bulky tops, in hopes of hiding my “wideness”. Truth be told, it’s actually impossible to hide, but a girl’s gotta try, right? I was miserable. I hated clothes, and I always felt messy and unattractive. I didn’t care about my appearance.

But there is no feeling like the feeling of slipping on a pair of old jeans that now fit better than they did when they were originally bought years ago!

My confidence level is higher! I’ve started wearing less bulky clothes to show off my figure. My feet are healthier and look better. I am excited to wear flip flops again without being embarrassed about how icky my feet look.

I find myself watching the “fashion” shows on the TV shopping channels, getting ideas for fun clothes that I might like to wear. I look forward to wearing shorts this summer! No, I am not perfect, but I appreciate my body so much more now.

I have more energy, and my internal self feels fantastic! I’ve noticed how strong my arms have become when I am putting away dishes on the higher shelves. I don’t run out of breath when I run up stairs. I can reach itches on my back a lot easier because my arms are so much more flexible.

Moments like these are monumental motivators! I use them as inspiration to keep going! I don’t want to ever go back to the way I used to be!

Fasting Blood Test Today

I’m not having breakfast today. I need to get a fasting blood test. I am dying to see my numbers. I wonder if my cholesterol went down. It wasn’t too high previously, but it did continue to creep up and up every year. I seem to remember years ago, I was as low as 120ish, and last year, I was around 168. So, I would love to see a lower number.

I will update with my results later.

UPDATE: My blood test results were very good, but I guess I expected a bigger transformation, thinking my cholesterol would miraculously lower itself to 120 like it was when I was younger!

Anyway, this year’s test:
Cholesterol 166
Triglyceride 58
HDL 59
LDL 95
Glucose 87

2009 Test:
Cholesterol 168
Triglyceride 95
HDL 53
LDL 102
Glucose 84

2008 Test:
Triglyceride n/a
Cholesterol 163
HDL 54
LDL n/a
Glucose 90

So, as you can see, the numbers aren’t dramatically improved, except for my Triglyceride number. Of course I am pleased with my health, but it’s a little frustrating. My numbers were always healthy, even when I ate like crap and rarely exercised. I just wanted my numbers to reflect the way I FELT inside and out!

First Bike Ride of the Season

I am so proud of myself! Wow! My DH and I went on our first bike ride of the season (40 minutes trip). I kicked ass! He had a difficult time keeping up, and I wasn’t even going at my peek!

I tried to burst a couple of times and it was amazing. Usually, when I bike, especially the first few times of the year, my legs feel like they are going to fall off if I keep going. Only once or twice did my legs feel any kind of pressure, and it only lasted a few seconds. I was so happy! I was a bit chilly at times, even with my ear muffs.

Wow, I think this is probably the best shape I have been EVER! Or for at least as long as I can remember. I don’t remember feeling this good when I was in my 20’s!

My DH felt jelly legs by the time we got home, but I was still raring to go! I decided to try jogging from our driveway to the end of our street. Not very long, probably not even a minute, but I did it! And I felt great! I walked back feeling very proud and invigorated!

Eating Most of My Calories

Most days, I try to stay 150 – 250 under my total daily calories. Just to give myself some wiggle room, since I am at a higher calorie count, due to lower weight loss goal.

But this morning I found a new podcast to listen to on healthy weight loss, called Fat 2 Fit Radio and they suggest a much higher calorie consumption – my “lightly active” calorie intake should be 1964. That’s a lot higher than what I am eating now. I don’t know if I will go as high as their BMR Calculator chart suggests, but I will try to eat all of the calories that MyFitnessPal suggests, if I can – all 1680 of them!

It’s worth a try for a few weeks to see if I can kick start weight loss again. Since I have been working out more regularly now, my body might be more efficient, I hope. Well, we’ll see.

Anyway, the Fat 2 Fit Radio podcast looks like it’s going to be very helpful. They have a ton of shows to listen to, so it’ll give me something new to inspire me on the way to work! In looking at their topics, there are so many really interesting ones. I don’t know if I should start at the beginning, or maybe start with the show from a year ago.

Yoga Revisited

This morning, I woke up and my whole upper body was wonderfully sore!

I have been working out every night, and last night I thought there might not be enough time since we went out to eat to the Outback, but I looked at the clock, it was 7pm, and I thought okay, let’s do something.

So, I checked out the fitness shows on OnDemand, and decided I wanted to try yoga again. I chose “Yoga Works” Beginner. It was pretty intense considering I am still a newbie but I did a good job! I was so proud of myself! My Downward Dog pose is so much better now! And I could even do the Cobra and I was shocked that I tried and could accomplish the Upward Dog as well. I only stopped once or twice. It felt amazing afterward!

And this morning, my muscles were feeling the workout. But the cool thing is once I was up and moving around, my muscles aren’t so bad. It’s really amazing and wonderful what my body is able to do now. I am so proud and happy!

Using Google Calendar to Track Weigh-ins & Workouts

I love MyFitnessPal.com to track my calories and exercise, but sometimes it is not easy to view my weight loss and exercise diary. I would love to see it all displayed in calendar form, so I decided to try Google Calendar.

It wasn’t time consuming to add my exercise information, since I have only started to exercise in January. Then I created a new “weigh-in” calendar (using a contrasting color format), and went back to July, adding my weigh-in numbers.

I really like being able to view how many days during a specific week/month I worked out! And to view all my weight losses (and gains) is also very convenient. I can export each of the calendars into iCal if I want to, which might be nice. Then I can edit on my iPhone instead of online at Google. We’ll see.
